Use this report to view details of your bandwidth usage at a selected site. The different reports show data relating to both uploads and downloads, broken down into the following graphical views:
The Summary report is a time series showing the bandwidth usage over the selected time period. Upload and download usage is shown in one view.
The Applications report is a pie chart describing bandwidth usage by different applications.
The IP Breakdown report is a bar graph describing bandwidth usage by different IP addresses.
Tip: You can return to the reports home page by clicking Reports from the main menu.
Reporting tasks
Accessing Bandwidth usage reports
From the main menu, click Reports.
The Bandwidth usage report page opens. The Summary report is displayed by default. From the Settings panel on the right of the main report window, specify the settings for your report:
Site selector - Select the site whose bandwidth usage you want to see.
Period - Select Day, Week, Month, or Custom, and use the calendar that opens to select the period for the report.
View - Select the type of report that you want to open in the view. For details of each view, see:
Whenever you change the report settings, the report in the main editor is refreshed to reflect your changes.
Tip: You can interact with the reports themselves in the main report window. Different options are available for each of the different views, but you can always view more detailed data by hovering your cursor over the graphical elements.
View Summary report
The Summary report shows the bandwidth consumed at the selected site, over the selected period. By default, the selected site is the first alphabetically and the selected period for the report is today.
The graph shows the bandwidth usage data for uploads and downloads. From this view you can:
Drag the handles on the bar beneath the graph to zoom in to the summary report. The report resizes to show the selected sub-section.
Hover your cursor over the graph to view details of the bandwidth usage at that date and time.
If your bandwidth is consumed against a dedicated pipe, a threshold is displayed on the summary view. This threshold represents your available allocation; that is, the total amount of bandwidth that you can use at the selected site.
You can click Hide threshold to remove the threshold from your graph. This automatically changes the scale of the graph to match the highest data point.
View Applications report
The Applications report is a pie chart that shows the combined upload and download bandwidth usage by different protocols / applications.
Info: Different protocols are used when data is transferred between endpoints. For example, HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) is the protocol used for normal web browsing. Some protocols are only used for specific things, which is why commonly used sites such as Open VPN or Windows Update are identified and displayed.
From this view you can:
Hover your cursor over the named sections of the pie chart to view the details of the bandwidth usage by the application that the slice refers to.
Hover your cursor over the Others slice to view the details of the bandwidth usage by each of the individual applications that are combined in this slice.
Note: This gray slice represents those applications that have each used less than 5% of the total bandwidth.
Click on one of the slices that represents a named application (not Others) to open an IP breakdown report for the selected application. This pie chart shows the IP breakdown for the selected application only.
Tip: When you view the IP breakdown for an application, each slice is labelled with the IP address and the breadcrumb trail shows Bandwidth usage > Applications > IP breakdown.
View IP Breakdown report
The IP Breakdown report is a bar chart that shows the bandwidth usage by different IP addresses.
From this view you can:
Hover your cursor over a bar in the chart to view a details tool tip showing the IP address and the upload and download usage associated with this IP address.
